Echo Arena Liverpool has become the first venue in the country to launch a free iPhone app.
The application, which is available to download to a mobile phone via the iTunes App Store, allows customers to find details of upcoming events and book tickets. It can even help people find Echo Arena via GPS tracking systems and give directions to nearby train and bus stations.
This is version 1 of the application but a second version is already in development which will include further features to help spread the word about the arena’s programme of events.
Tim Banfield, General Manager Echo Arena, part of ACC Liverpool, said: "We believe we are the first venue in the country to offer an iPhone app for our customers. Our commitment to innovation led us to developing this application, which will make it much easier for our customers to find out everything from ticket prices to whether they need to turn left or right to get here. We already have a strong social media communications network, including a Facebook page with over 8000 fans along with a dedicated following on Twitter. The way people are communicating and gathering information is changing every day and it is vital that venues such as ourselves keep pace with those changes and remain at the forefront of technological advances. People now want the flexibility to be able to book tickets either at a ticket office, on the phone, on the internet or via their mobile device and venues have to make sure they have the tools in place to allow their customers to choose the method that works the best for them."
A version of the app for other platforms, such as Android and Blackberry is also being developed and will be released shortly.
