ACC Liverpool was alive with the sound of music at the weekend as over 20,000 visitors descended upon the venue to see global talent mix with the stars of tomorrow.

Comprising BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena, ACC Liverpool became a pulse of musical genres ranging from rousing classics and UK number ones to Grammy Award winning songs.

Friday night saw Beiber Fever strike the city as the Canadian megastar Justin Beiber performed to a sell-out crowd of 11,000 at the Echo Arena.

Meanwhile, in the adjoining BT Convention Centre, preparations for the next set of X-Factor hopefuls were well under way with the final logistics put in place for a full day of televised auditions on Saturday.  Well versed in hosting some of the highest profile corporate and association events, BT Convention Centre played host to the first ever X-Factor auditions in Liverpool while Dermot O’Leary whipped the crowd into a frenzy in front of the TV cameras.

Saturday evening saw the musical tempo in the adjacent Echo Arena once again change beat.  A classical spectacular complete with canons, muskets and lasers put the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (RLPO) through its paces and swelled the audience with pride at Pomp and Circumstance and the 1812 Overture.

Chief Executive, ACC Liverpool, Bob Prattey, said, “We have had a fantastic weekend of musical talent; from the global talent of Justin Beiber to X-Factor auditionees.  The flexibility of our venue makes it possible to have the full might of the RLPO playing to a packed audience in the Echo Arena, while thousands of hopefuls converged on the adjacent BT Convention Centre for a chance of pop stardom.  In more ways than one, Liverpool emerged with the X Factor this weekend.”

The musical weekend concluded on Sunday evening with ‘Live the Dream’ kids variety show whilst this week Echo Arena prepares to welcome The Script on Monday evening, The Australian Pink Floyd on Tuesday and Westlife on Friday.

It’s then back to business for BT Convention Centre, as the venue welcomes the Federation of Small Business for their annual conference starting this Wednesday – a truly eclectic week for ACC Liverpool!
